OCTOBER 5 – OCTOBER 28, 2018
CALL TO ENTRY
IMAGES&WORDS DANCE is a visual art and literature exhibit featuring collaborations between artist members of Hamilton Gallery and Baltimore-area poets and writers. The exhibit explores the movements and rhythms created by the interlacing of words and images as well as the process of merging art forms into compositions that give us multifaceted perspectives of the human experience.
The exhibition component of IMAGES&WORDS DANCE will consist of paintings, photography, mixed media, and sculpture. Accompanying each artwork will be a specific, original work of poetry or short fiction written in response to a visual image. In addition to the exhibition, Hamilton Gallery will host a reading of featured writers.
Hamilton Gallery invites Baltimore-area poets and writers to meet participating member artists on April 29, 2018, at 2 pm; to view their works; and select an artist with whom they wish to work. The exhibition entry fee is $35. Poets/Writers are requested to submit 3-5 samples of writing along with their entry fees and will be notified by May 15, 2018, of their participation in the exhibit. Hamilton Gallery is located at 5502 Harford Rd./Baltimore, MD 21214
IMAGES&WORDS DANCE engages people in a conversation about the intersection of visual matter and language. It asks them to reevaluate their understanding of what a piece of art or a poem or a short story can be. And it asks them to think about how compositions of words and images throughout our environment influence our experiences, perceptions, feelings and thoughts about ourselves and each other.
One intended goal for this exhibit is to re-sensitize audience members to the world they are living in and to allow us all to re-imagine what the world could become if we choose to be conscious contributors on its behalf.
Coordinating the exhibit are Hamilton Gallery members Schroeder Cherry and L Nef’fahtiti Partlow-Myrick. For more details contact Nef at firstname.lastname@example.org.
